St. John was recommended to me as one of London's best "tip to tail" restaurants. I was fortunate to find a reservation on the last night of my stay and it was absolutely worth it. Without a doubt, the best dish was the smoked cod roe, egg, and cress. The roe is pureed, but unbelievably flavorful. Paired with the creamy egg yolk, the tang of the cress, and salty crunch of the layered potato pave, every bite was delightful. The house-made sourdough and pickled mackel on rye were also fantastic. The main entree was a special of the day - lamb heart with horseradish and carrots. The flavors of this dish were lovely, but lamb heart is a tougher cut of meat. The chocolate terrine with brandied prune was silky smooth, but a bit strong on the brandy for my taste. Overall, a fabulous meal. I'd absolutely go again, but with additional people so that I can try even more of their locally sourced dishes.

For the second Valentines Day in a row, St John has made my heart flutter thank you to my wonderful boyfriend for taking me here again! :) I love Bread and Wine, it’s so bright and lively, and people-watching here is peak! The service is superduper friendly. Do beware that the dishes take a little while to come out but I think that adds to the experience, reminding us to take things slowly and cherish the flavours one by one! Fun fact I was gifted the Nose to Tail cookbook by a friend yesterday so I was really excited to try some featured dishes, and I went home totally inspired. I had a glass of the house rose, a type of wine I rarely *adore*, but their version is perfectly balanced and fresh. Considering getting a bottle for home. To start we had beetroot, cabbage, creme fraiche and chervil. My boyfriend went ham for this, I was also very satisfied with it! I felt it matched my Lithuanian heritage, reminded me much of the flavours of my childhood summers. A sweet and crisp plate of veggies. Chervil should be used more in salads. The creme fraiche is such a noughty touch and it is absolutely divine. The second starter, smoked cod’s roe, egg, and cress, reminded me rather of my Swedish side. It came with the crispiest accordion-shaped potatoes, with a mushy interior. The whole dish was salt perfection, with the soft egg giving you a little break. It was really like a deconstructed Swedish egg & caviar sandwich, with the watercress adding a British earthy touch. Balanced and unique! If you’re feeling like lamb, I urge you to try it here. The remaining bit of my heritage, Norwegian, was evoked by the mutton. It was marvellously flavourful and fatty, there wasn’t even any need to put aioli on the plate, the lamb does all the work. I wanted to inhale the lentils and sauce it was so good and nostalgic. The mussels were of course also splendid, I loved the way the cider shone through the broth, and the dill added lightness and finesse. We ordered chocolate cake for dessert which felt like the pinnacle of chocolate cake, irresistably smooth all throughout, rich but not overly sweet, especially when paired with creme fraiche. I must attempt this at home. We also brought home some of their reputable madeleines, their buttery batter made them feel like pancake-biscuits, served as a wonderful breakfast the day after! If it wasn’t for financial restraint I would go to St John every week. I hope to return next year at least! Love you lots!

If you haven’t been here yet, what are you waiting for? The bakery became a cosy restaurant where the concept of tapas are revisited “a-la-St-John” and the daily menu offers deliciousness even on a Tuesday for lunch. I was positively impressed by the selection of dishes and the cordiality of staff. Highly recommended - versatile use (friends, date, family)

Simply amazing! There‘s nothing not to love about this place. It‘s been my third time, and it always is a fantastic experience. Love the staff, too! Cannot wait to come back again. My fave? The whipped smoked cod’s roe plus egg, and the bone marrow with parsley and capers salad. Delightful.

Just truly excellent! We shared all the dishes with a table of six. Everything was surprising, flavorful, and absolutely delicious! The desserts are truly amazing, and the oysters incredibly tasty. All of this in a cozy, no-nonsense setting. They also handle allergies really well — that wins my heart!

Was here multiple times and once again it didn’t disappoint. From the attentive service, to the simple yet not disappointing ambience, following by great food. English “posher” cuisine with a touch of french details and also some comfort food similar dishes. The chicken liver toast was absolutely sublime, the oysters fresh, the tarragon egg on point and the apple crumble with vanilla custard could have been ordered a second time.

One of the best meals of my bloody life. Everything was absolute perfect. The amount of craft it takes to transform humble ingredients into small masterpieces of pure flavour is astonishing. Good job to the whole team of young chefs. Really a true gem of English cuisine that must be protected and celebrated at any cost.

Five years ago we went to St John,Smithfield and loved it. This trip our hotel is less than a mile from this sister restaurant so we went here. The food and service were almost the same, but the atmosphere is a little bit more laid back. The Crispy Pig Skins, Dandelion and Radish salid was the highlight of the meal. However, everything was perfectly seasoned. Don't be scared of the unusual items on the menu, everything is perfectly prepared .
